  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the baking pan with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter. Stir until well blended.
  3. Add the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract to the banana mixture. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a spatula, being careful not to overmix.
  6. If you’re using chocolate chips, gently fold them into the batter at this stage.
  7. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Once baked, remove the pan from the oven and allow it to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  10. While the brownies are cooling, prepare the cream cheese frosting. In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
  11. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  12. Once the brownies are completely cool, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the top.
  13. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes
